If you run an online business and expect people to accept and even use the business, branding is the key. When people are comfortable with a brand they tend to use the service or site more. We learned early on that branding is important because you can use the same branding everywhere and people start to recognize you in more places. New Webmaster Tools was later branded as NWT Websites and you will see that brand all over the internet offering free services to help webmasters grow their businesses.

As another example of a site that used branding to grow is the Bucky Bunny brand of sites that grew out of a brand or actually a logo. Breed Traffic started using the Bucky Bunny theme many years ago and now there are 4 Bucky Bunny sites and if you search Bucky Bunny in Google, you will find that Bucky is making inroads in the branding aspect. When people know that there are people to contact at the Bucky Bunny sites and they are all run professionally, the brand carries weight in their market.

Branding should be consistent across all the platforms you use to advertise your business. This means a logo and font that is used on all communication, web pages, promotional material and social platforms. If you get a good brand, run it with great customer service and design a nice logo and are consistent with your message, your chances of success will increase with each thing you do to market it.

NWT Search has been in the planning stages for years while the software to run a directory the way we wanted was built. NWT Search is now up and running on our own NWT Websites Software and soon will have the ability to serve other directories running our software. Within the next year or so as the software is developed, we hope to launch the site that will tie directories together. The NWT Traffic Network is a system that ties multiple participating  traffic exchanges together for the purpose of exchanging views of member pages.  This results in a much wider coverage and provides a better unique ratio because more actual people see the pages. All different types of traffic exchange scripts can join the NWT Traffic Network and are provided an interface and instructions to install it and set it up to start showing and viewing network sites.

There are two different tracks on the NWT Traffic Network, Manual Traffic and Auto Traffic and only manual sites are shown on manual exchanges and only auto sites are shown on auto exchanges and there is no connection between the two tracks. A hover track is coming soon so all hover exchanges will be able to have their own track as well.

We evaluate all sites added to the NWT Traffic Network before the site is given a membership to ensure only quality traffic from professional webmasters and traffic exchange owners. If you have a traffic exchange and would like to have it evaluated for inclusion in the network, visit our Contact Form and submit your information and we will join and check it out. When it is approved, we will contact you with your account information at the NWT Traffic Network.

We currently have interfaces for all the popular traffic exchanges out there but are not allowing Traffic Combine Exchanges on the network as they do not allow sites from our network to be seen. Okay, you are cruising along on Twitter gaining real followers which are few and far between. You notice more people follow you every day and you follow them back. You look the next day and you have lost some followers. You have been struck by the measly worthless Twitter Follow/Unfollow Weasels

Twitter Follow / Unfollow Weasels are the idiots that run around just trying to gain followers and follow none back or very few. These are the people that want the world think what they have to say is so important that people follow them whether they follow back or not.

You go look at their profile and they have 15,000 followers and are following six people. These are the most worthless people on Twitter and will never tweet anything worth reading, usually just worthless links. They are waiting to build up a bunch of followers so they can then convert the account to an auto posting, junk link spewing twitter spambot account that just clogs up Twitter with junk.

The only way to deal with the follow / unfollow weasels is to use the BLOCK function on Twitter. This makes their work just that much harder and really frustrates them. I usually post a reply to them letting my followers know about the worthless weasels. If enough of us real people block them, they will be busy setting up new accounts as Twitter nukes them for being blocked by so many.

Some of them whine about the posts but I don’t see them because I blocked the weasel before they whined. The best way to keep your Twitter account weasel free is to use Friend or Follow every day and just block the follow / unfollow weasels I am sure you have.

How do you see yourself online ? I bet most others see you differently. I like to think that people online see me as helpful with the free tools and services we do offer.

I really don’t know how you see me online and I don’t mean my picture. There is no way I could know because, ( Hopefully) you are an individual with your own free thought and I can’t read minds.

What I am saying is, no matter what you do online, you will tick off someone that thinks differently than you do. If you post the wrong thing on Twitter or use TweetMeMe  to “Tweet your Own Horn” as I have apparently have done.

Your main goal online, at least in my niche, is to get your sites out there to bring in new users to expand the reach of my websites. I try any and all the  methods I can to communicate with my users and reach new users period.

Just keep a straight,  steady path and continue to ignore the complainers and naysayers while trying new things to market your website. Tweet about it, use FreindFeed, MySpace and FaceBook.

Use the bookmarking services to market your site. Buzz Up your websites on Yahoo and add them on Reddit, StumbleUpon, Digg, Mixx and Delicious. Go ahead and do a Press Release about your site and of course be truthful in it.

Jump on out there on Linkedin and Plaxo and build your profile and make some good network connections. Get your name out there connected with your website brand to try and get noticed.

Don’t worry, New Webmaster Tools has been going since 2004 and is still doing fine. We just keep growing because we do try new marketing methods including TweetMeMe and and FriendFeed.

There will always be complainers and naysayers out there with way too much time on their hands that know much more than you do about anything and everything. Don’t get drawn down to that level, they are probably someone out there with an axe to grind, a personal problem with you or your site or some self appointed expert ” Guru ” / Internet Police. They will never do anything but find fault with others instead of thinking about their problems.

Stay Positive and Avoid the Self Appointed Internet Police lest you offend someone that has a different online perception than you do.
